The novels are one way into a question. It doesn't stay inside the fiction.
Outside the books, the same inquiry becomes practical: how a person stays relevant, recognisable, and meaningfully paid as technology makes execution abundant and the ground keeps shifting underneath them. Not a course to complete or a method to adopt — a way of staying coherent while the work, and the world around it, keep changing.
That work is still taking shape. For now this is only a marker that it exists, and that it comes from the same place the novels do.
