About

Douglas Ng lives and works in Singapore.

His work moves through fiction and a wider inquiry into what it takes to stay fully human inside systems that keep changing underneath us, and what happens to people who function well in a world that keeps asking them to become more. The Continuance series is one way of getting at that question: not by arguing it, but by building a world where it can be lived, and recognised.

His wider work follows the same inquiry along different lines — into identity, human development, direction, and the strange conditions of a time when technology is reshaping almost everything at once. It isn't a set of answers. It's a way of looking, and a set of questions worth staying with.

He doesn't think of himself as someone who has the answer to any of this. The books don't offer one, and neither does he. What he tries to do — in the fiction and everywhere else — is make a space where something you already half-know can come into focus, at your own pace, in your own way.

If the questions in these books stay with you, and you'd like to follow them further, you can find where the inquiry continues at Remaining Human.

And if the books were enough on their own — that's just as good. They were meant to be.
